The Indians reluctance to accept Jesus as revealed in scripture originated in humanity’s fallen nature, not in the Indians’ culture. How many people, of all races, refuse to consider him the Sole Source of salvation? Or refuse to oblige his Lordship by changing their lives? Or can’t imagine being happy in Heaven if they’re loved ones aren’t there?
Unfortunately for everyone, God won’t change his FACTS because we overvalue our OPINIONS. Every preacher faces the problem in preaching many Bible texts. Which may explain why so little in-depth preaching from Bible texts themselves is a mainstay in churches. It’s much easier to preach topics, which lend themselves to using texts as hooks on which preachers hang “proof”. But to get into a text and let it speak for itself, leaving the expositor no choice but to repeat what God said is another matter. To avoid the discomfort of confronting listeners with Bible truths they don’t welcome, and refuse to have proclaimed, preachers gloss over or ignore God’s obvious truth.
Where have preachers ever derived the right to decide HOW to approach sinners in order to convince them? Is not their sole responsibility to proclaim God’s WORD, and let the Holy Spirit wrestle with the soul? If we faithfully proclaim God’s truth, the Holy Spirit knows how to use it to inform, convince, convict and convert all sinners to CHANGE! -Fini-
